Why Sunny Days Should Encourage Window Shutters
For most people, the end of winter and the onset of spring is a welcome thing. Warmer weather and lighter days can make life feel a lot more pleasant.
A key question for anyone living in Brighton is just how much of the summer sunshine they want to allow through the windows into their homes. As providers of full height shutters in Brighton, we can help you decide how much light or shade you get.
Of course, daylight hours on the south coast are much less than other parts of Britain. On the longest day of the year the sunset in Brighton will be 17 minutes past nine in the evening, 40 minutes earlier than the lightest place in England (Berwick-upon-Tweed). In parts of Scotland, the sun will still be up an hour after it has set over the Sussex downs.
At the same time, however, at noon the sun will be higher in the sky, at over 62 degrees. Moreover, on really hot days you might want to limit the amount of heat coming through the windows.
Much will also depend on the position of your windows in relation to the sun; for instance a north-facing window will see no direct sunlight except in summer, while a south-facing view will get it all year round.
Our full height shutters are very popular as a means of letting sun in or keeping it out. As well as offering this control, they provide the perfect flexibility for use in different kinds of windows. This includes the bay windows that are common in so many of the Regency buildings that dominate Brighton’s architecture.
Given the high population density of the areas in which such buildings are located, privacy is an issue too and our shutters are designed to make absolutely sure that they make sure you can look out when you like, but nobody else can peer in when you don’t want them to.
